"Railway viaduct. 1837-9 by John and Benjamin Green for Newcastle and North Shields Railway Company; altered and width doubled 1869 for North-Eastern Railway Company. Sandstone ashlar with iron arches and superstructure (added in 1869 when original laminated timber arches were removed). T-section iron lattices between arches and railway bed girders, which are also supported by masonry....." -
