"Revived Exhibition Park is result of a 15-year battle to halt decline of historic green oasis in the centre of Newcastle....Opened in 1878 in a corner of Newcastle Town Moor, the site was used for Queen Victoria’s Royal Jubilee Exhibition in 1887. It then became known as Exhibition Park. So when it was decided to stage one of the biggest events ever held in the region, there was only one choice...."
