North Charlton medieval village (Eglingham)
-
Description
"The shrunken medieval village of North Charlton survives as a series of earthworks around the present farm. As well as the village there is also an extensive open field system and a chapel. Records of the village go back to the 13th century when it belonged to the lords of Ditchburn. Today there are earthworks of buildings, enclosures, plots of land and a hollow way as well as a stone market cross...." -
