"War memorial. 1923 by E.C. Kenmir for Spennymoor Urban District. Site the gift of the Weardale Iron and Coal Company. Sandstone ashlar; wrought iron railings and gate. Baroque style. 4 Ionic piers on large square base support entablature, on which rests panelled square base of smaller piers supporting entablature with dome above; prominent cornices to entablatures and to upper base....."
