Former Mine Buildings, South Skelton Ironstone Mine

  • Description

"Stable block, one of a pair. Although built at different times. This one dates from 1870 and is unusual in that most stabling for pit ponies was done underground. It was probably only temporary accommodation but is still standing, The other block, to the left out of shot, is of later construction." Photo by Mick Garratt, 2007.
