    "There has been a "Half Moon" building on this site since 1550. The current one is by Simpson, Lawson and Rayne, the architects responsible for Emerson Chambers in Blackett Street http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=55736808 . It's in Art Nouveau style, and was built in 1902-05 for Arrol's of Alloa (Brewers). There are witches' hat dormers [[4497717]], a decorative central gable [[4497723]], carved columns and pilasters, stone sills and window heads, iron balconies decorated with half moon symbols [[4497721]], and an original ground floor (excpt for the right hand shop front).
