Ruin of engine house at Ridsdale

  • Description

"Ridsdale is a small Northumberland village straddling the A68; it was the location of an iron industry until the mid-nineteenth century. Ian Paterson [[http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/459978]] tells that it's widely believed that the building is the ruin of a castle; in his hundreds of passes, the photographer, until today, thought the same."
