-
Description
"Sculpture attached to the surviving wall of the second Redheugh Bridge http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2732406 which was used from 1901 to 1983, when it was demolished to make way for the new one http://www.bridgesonthetyne.co.uk/olred2.html The sculpture was installed in 1991, the mild-steel construction and form reflecting the bold architecture of the Tyne's bridges and reflecting the demise of the local heavy industry. Richard Deacon won the Turner Prize in 1987 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Deacon_%28sculptor%29 There is a similar photo from 2009 here [[1340556]]" Photo by Andrew Curtis, 2012. -
