The Battle Stone at Old Yeavering

  • Description

"This stone, approximately 1600mm long by 800mm wide by 2000mm high, is set into a concrete base in a grazing field to the east of Old Yeavering. It is associated with a battle of 1415 when Sir Robert Umfrevill defeated the Scots, but it is regarded as being prehistoric. Apparently, the stone fell in 1890 and was re-erected in 1924 when presumably the concrete base was formed." Photo by Walter Baxter, 2011.
