"Railway Dated 1848 by Abbot and Co. of Gateshead on plaque on south arch. Sandstone ashlar and cast iron. Rock-faced plinth to piers; coped buttresses support 6 segmental cast iron girder arches; cross-section lattice infill. Second arch of circa 1890 on the north in similar style...."
