College House, Northumberland Road, Newcastle

  • Description

"By R.J. Johnson, 1882-83, in "Norman Shaw's Queen Anne style". The ogee-roofed front to College Street brings to mind a Jacobean gatehouse (but nothing else does). The block round the corner has a slightly different character but appears to be of the same date. Grade II listed. This is all Northumbria University territory. Behind is St James NZ2564 : Church of St James, Northumberland Road." Photo by Stephen Richards, 2012, and licensed for reuse under a Creative Commons Licence.
