Bollards, 'Blue Carpet Square'

  • Description

"Higham Place, part of New Bridge Street, in front of the Laing Art Gallery NZ2564 : Laing Art Gallery from New Bridge Street, became 'Blue Carpet Square' in 2001 with the installation of Thomas Heatherwick's Blue Carpet. It is composed of tiles made with recycled blue glass set in resin. It never ceases to disappoint me, but perhaps I need to see it when the sun is shining or when it is illuminated by artificial blue light."
