Timber Alight Behind the Railway Lines
-
Description
Photograph of the Great Timber Yard Fire in Hartlepool, 1922. This image shows stacks of timber, possibly pit props, alight next to the railway lines. At this point, the heat from the fire is such that even the steel railway lines were beginning to smoke. In the foreground, a young boy can be seen looking towards the camera.
