Description
Residents transporting belongings away from the area threatened by the Great Timber Yard Fire in Hartlepool, 1922, on a hand cart. Thanks to be efforts of firefighters, the spread of the blaze, which started at a timber yard near Union Street, was curtailed to the extent that it allowed people affected to evacuate furniture, along with other personal belongings.
