Stacked Timber. Undamaged.
-
Description
Image showing stacks of timber that remained undamaged during the Great Timber Yard Fire in Hartlepool, 1922. The height and density of the stacked wood can be seen clearly, possibly explaining why the fire spread so quickly. In the years after the blaze, timber conpanies were frequently criticised by concerned residents for continuing to stack stored wood in this manner.
