Former station at Humshaugh, 1997

  • Description

"View from the A6320 Low Brunton - Bellingham road, close to its bridge over the River North Tyne at Chollerford, also to the remains of the bridge on the Roman Wall at Chesters milecastle. The station remains, well preserved in private hands. It was on the ex-NBR Border Counties line, the view being towards Bellingham, Reedsmouth and Riccarton Junction. The station closed to passengers 11/10/56, when the Newcastle - Hexham - Riccarton Junction service ceased, but goods continued until 1/9/58 (11/11/63 between Bellingham and Reedsmouth)."
