Hethpool Cottages

  • Description

"The group of four estate cottages was designed by Robert Mauchlen in 1926, in the Arts & Crafts style, for Sir Arthur Munro Sutherland, a Tyneside industrialist. He was very proud of the cottages , describing them as "among the most modern of their class in the country". The two pairs of cottages are linked by an archway and there is a low round tower with a conical roof at the right side, reflecting that on the side of Hethpool House."
