    "Originally a reservoir in which members of Tynemouth Amateur Swimming Club (founded in 1875) were allowed to swim from 1907 onwards. During 1908-9 unemployed men were used by Tynemouth Corporation to build a pool. The swimming club left in 1969 and the pool was demolished soon afterwards."
