"Church c.1763, by Robert Corney (Coatham), architect and builder; lower part of tower 1731; late C18 porch; vestry 1855. On site of Anglo-Saxon church; adjoining mausoleum of 1740 q.v. Vertically-tooled sandstone ashlar; dressed sandstone to lower 3 stages of tower. Roofs of Lakeland slate, lead and felt. Palladian style. West tower; aisled nave with south porch; chancel with north tomb chamber and vestry...." -
