The Crown Posada, Newcastle
-
Description
The Crown Posada was originally called the Crown until a 19th-century owner, a sea captain with a wife in Spain, decided to install a mistress at the inn and add the word Posada, the Spanish for hostelry, to the name. It is a skinny room, with a magnificent pre-Raphaelite stained-glass window and a high moulded ceiling. A long, narrow Victorian mahogany bar links the tiny front panelled snug to the larger sitting area at the back. -
