    "John Dobson built the Royal Station Hotel for the York, Newwcastle and Berwick Railway Company, 1845-50 together with Central Station which is directly to its right. The left part was added for the North Eastern Railway Company in 1890. The Royal Station Hotel has 144 rooms, conference and leisure suites.
