Rail entrance to Newcastle Central Station

  • Description

"Viewed from the top of the castle keep. Even in 1970 ('Get Carter' days) the rail layout was complex; yet this was before the addition of the Tyne-and-Wear Metro (1980) and electrification of the East CoastvMain Line (1985). Virgil would no doubt be minded of the piling of Ossa upon Pelion." Photo by Stanley Howe, 1970, and licensed for reuse under a Creative Commons Licence.
