Holy Island

    A grave marker of about 900, carved with scenes depicting the onset of Domesday. On one side the Cross appears in the heavens; on the other a procession of armed warriors (shown perhaps as Viking raiders). (English Heritage - `Lindisfarne Priory & Holy Island', p. 15)
