Newcastle United Greatest memories

  • Description

When my Dad was a young boy, he remembers going to see Kevin Keegan play his debut match at St James Park. It was the season of 1982/83. Newcastle had just signed the England captain despite being a struggling 2nd division club. He remembers how excited he and all of the 36000 crowd were feeling, seeing the England captain wearing the black and white stripes of Newcastle. The crowd went crazy and the noise was deafening when Keegan scored the only goal of the game. Dad also remembers getting pushed forward and swaying with the crowds as there were no seats in this part of the ground and everyone had to stand. They all passionately sang out Keegan’s name. Dad left the ground feeling very happy but a bit bruised
