Glen Aln Hornpipe and Farewell to the Dene played by Roy Hugman 23 1 14

  • Description

These are two well known Northumbrian tunes. The Glen Aln Hornpipe was composed by Will Atkinson and the schottische, Farewell to the Dene by Willy Taylor. Will was a virtuoso 'moothy' player with his own recognisable style and my aim is not to emulate, but to interpret the tunes in my own way. Will used to tell me that phrasing and 'lift' were vital and I hope I've been able to grasp those two features in my playing. Let me know if you like them.
