Road Bowling (1957)

    County Cork, Ireland. M/S of a group of men standing around, one man hands some money over to John Foley. He is the stakeholder for the competition of road bowling where two men bowl a ball down the roads over a two mile stretch. C/U of John's hands counting the money. C/U of his face as he says something to the group. M/S of the group moving about, the two competitors take off their jackets. They are Bill Desmond aged 21 and Joe Ahern aged 22. John takes some more bets. M/S of Joe holding the ball, some of the group are stood behind him. C/U of the ball. M/S of Bill running down the street and bowling the ball. M/S of the group, Bill is the winner and is presented with the trophy, he shakes hands with the other bowler.
