  • Description

On Boxing Day 1926 the Dungeness lifeboat crew launched their brand new motorised lifeboat, and the cameramen of the Topical Budget company were there to record the event for posterity with the full co-operation of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. This organisation relying, then as now, entirely on volunteers and charitable donations, embraced the new medium as a tool for raising funds for its vital work. All titles on the BFI Films channel are preserved in the vast collections of the BFI National Archive. To find out more about the Archive visit http://www.bfi.org.uk/archive-collections
