Hartlepool Magnesia Works, 1937

  • Description

We've had a delve into our extensive photographic archive and unearthed these gems of the Steetley Magnesium works in Hartlepool. First of two batches, more to follow! Hartlepool Magnesia Works, 1937 - general view of the site during construction - the building in the centre was the machine shop, its peculiar shape arose from being sited in the concrete housing for the six-inch Palliser Battery built as a defence after the WW1 seaward bombardment of the town.
