    Item title reads - In an ideal setting. Beautiful pageant of Northumbrian history opened by Duchess of Northumberland. Alnwick Castle. Northumberland. M/S of the Duchess of Northumberland stood up on a platform making a speech, she is stood under an umbrella, others are sat on the platform. M/S as people in medieval costume ride and walk by in the grounds of the castle. M/S as soldiers carry a woman on a stretcher followed by a knight and his assistants. L/S as the pageant parades through the castle grounds. Various shots of the pageant and people watching. M/S as a little girl presents the Duchess with some flowers. M/S of a man and woman chatting. L/S of the pageant again. M/S of people parading, the camera pans across the platform. M/S of a young lady on a beach posing in her swimming costume. Another one dances for the camera next to a gramophone on the beach, she is wearing a costume that looks like seaweed. L/S of the pageant. M/S of the Duchess with some children and people in costume. M/S of ladies in big pointy hats with bits of cloth attached. Various shots as they act out a play. Various shots of the parade again. M/S of the town crier speaking and a man playing the bagpipes. M/S of courtiers walking along the castle wall, M/S as soldiers bring a pot of boiling oil. M/S of a man who is being held on the ground, someone comes up to attack him with a spear, but another guard pushes him away. Others walk along the castle walls again.
