Description
Roker Park, Sunderland, Tyne and Wear. Start of the football match between Hungarian team Red Banner and Sunderland at Roker Park. SV. Two captains, the referee standing in the centre of the pitch after exchanging greetings. GV. Massed crowd. GV. Sunderland kick off. Len Shackleton tries to get through, but the ball comes back to half back Stan Anderson. He starts Sunderland on the move. CU. Young boy in crowd. SV. Red Banner goal area. Ball coming over. Billy Elliott jabs a shot in. The goalkeeper saves the ball and grabs hold of it safely. He runs and throws up-field. CU. Waving boy in crowd. GV. Red Banner moving fast onto the Sunderland goal but John Bollands smothers a shot and Jack Hedley kicks the ball clear. SV. Gellert waiting in his goal. SV. Sunderland attacking on the left wing. Elliott beats Szimcsak, turns round and beats him again and centres across the goal. Pan across the goal where goalkeeper Gellert just deflects it from an oncoming Sunderland forward and it goes out to the right wing. Ball is shot back to player who smashes in a shot high over the bar. CU. Cheering children. SV. Purdon coming down the left wing with a ball and he crosses it over. SV. Red Banner goal mouth, Hope dashes in and heads a beauty - past Gellert, pan from happy players to cheering crowd. Half time Sunderland 1 - Red Banner 0. GV. Red Banner goal area. Sunderland on the move again. A Sunderland forward shoots and Gellert punches it out. Red Banner get the ball away. CU. Cheering spectators. GV. Red Banner goal. Sunderland attacking. Again Shackleton is through and he shoots. The ball crashes into the back of the net. Sunderland 2 - Red Banner 0. SV. Happy crowd. GV. Sunderland trying to attack again, but Szimcsak heads away and Kovacs taps it on but comes back to him and he pushes it up-field. GV. Coming inside Sunderland goal area, Hidgekuti sweeping through and although tackled, he smashes the ball past goal keeper Bollands. Sunderland 2 - Red Banner 1. CU. Smiling children, with one not so happy. GV. Red Banner goal area after corner kick to Sunderland. The ball comes over where a back misses it and it goes to Purdon. Despite being tackled by Borzsei he shoots, but goalkeeper Gellert falls on the ball to make a good save and he throws up-field. LV. Red Banner with the ball coming down towards Sunderland goal. Anderson tackles but he slips high and runs on. He shoots a lovely drive but it is well taken by goalkeeper Bollands. CU. Waving spectators. GV. Sunderland goal area, Red Banner attacking. The ball is slipped across to Palotas who receives and shoots past Bollands to make the score 2-2. The back comes up to get the ball out of the net. Final score - Red Banner 2, Sunderland 2.
