  • Description

Titles read: "GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL FILM". Various shots of waste paper being gathered together at a waste paper sorting plant. Brief shots of huge wads of scrap paper being transported on a barge on a river. Commentator urges us to save all kinds of paper, saying wood pulp that paper is made from is imported from overseas and takes up valuable space on merchant ships. As we see several shots of waste paper being recycled, commentator lists some of the many items used in the war effort that are made from paper. Shots of some of these things - anti-aircraft shell containers, washers for mortar bombs, boxes for cartridges, cartridge wads. Ghostly shots of pieces of paper falling to the ground in a studio. A cardboard box full of scrap paper is moved onto its side to show the words "Mobilize [sic] Your Scrap!" 90,000 historic films, all SEARCHABLE on YouTube at: http://www.youtube.com/britishpathe Join us on Facebook at: http://www.facebook.com/britishpathe Tweet us @britishpathe FILM ID:1320.2
