    Type : Lantern Slide Description : A view of the Haymarket Newcastle upon Tyne taken c.1910. The photograph has been taken from Northumberland Street/Haymarket looking across to the South African War Memorial and St Thomas Church. In the foreground to the right is the end wall of a building at the junction of Northumberland Street and St Mary's Place. In the centre to the left is the South African War Memorial erected in 1907 and to the right St Thomas Church built between 1827-30. St Mary's Place runs along the side of St Thomas Church. Several horse cabs are parked in front of the War Memorial. Buildings on Barras Bridge and the North Road can be seen in the background. Collection : Local Studies Source of Information : +Duplicate.
