Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A photograph of one of the legs from a wooden table carved in the shape of a man wearing historic dress. Each of the legs of this table was carved into a character from a William Shakespeare play. This is Hamlet as can be seen on the base of the figure. The table was made by Gerrard Robinson a nineteenth century wood carver who worked in Newcastle upon Tyne. Gerrard Robinson died in obscurity in a house in Pine Lane Newcastle upon Tyne in 1891. He was a 'carver gilder and picture frame maker Stepney Lane Argyle Street Newcastle upon Tyne'.
