    Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : 'Collier Poet' born March 17th 1832 in Percy Main Originally sent down the pit aged 7 after the death of his father. In 1854 he walked to London where he met and married Sarah Ann Hedley. He was appointed Assistant Librarian at the Lit and Phil but later returned to the pits.
