    Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A view of the Christmas tableau of Santa Claus and four reindeers, Eldon Square, Newcastle upon Tyne, taken in 1971. The photograph has been taken from Blackett Street and shows the tableau which is in a patch of ground on the right-hand side of Eldon Square. Electric lanterns are hanging from the branches of a nearby tree. The War Memorial is in the centre of the Square. The buildings on the left-hand side of Eldon Square have been demolished whilst those in the centre are remaining. Handyside Arcade Building, on Percy Street, can be seen in the background.
