    Type : Lantern Slide Description : A view of Bessie Surtees House Sandhill Newcastle upon Tyne taken in 1932. The photograph shows the interior of one of the rooms which is furnished. The walls are covered with carved wooden panelling with portraits hanging from them. There is a large stone fireplace on the left-hand side of the room with a carved wooden overmantel. A row of windows runs along the right-hand side of the room. Bessie Surtees House is a 20th century amalgamation of Surtees House and Milbank House (41-44 Sandhill).
