    Type : Lantern Slide Description : A view of the interior of St. John's Church Grainger Street Newcastle upon Tyne taken c.1935. There are benches in the foreground with the carved wooden pulpit to the left. The organ pipes are to the right of the pulpit with an altar beneath. A carved wooden rood screen leads into the south transept. The pulpit dates to c.1620 and restored in 1969-72. The organ dates to 1909 incorporates late nineteenth ad possibly some eighteenth century pipework. The south transept dates to the mid 15th century and was paid for by Robert Rhodes.
