Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A view of the interior of St. Francis Church Cleveland Gardens Heaton taken pre 1953? The photograph has been taken from the back of the church looking down the nave towards the altar. Rows of wooden seats are on either side of the nave. The walls and ceiling of the church are made of wood. The photograph is probably the interior of the first church built in 1935 and used until 1953 when a larger church was built.Churches Collection : Local Studies Source of Information : The date on the photograph is c.1960 but it is unlikely that the photograph shows the interior of the second church opened in 1953. It is more likely that the photograh shows the interior of the first church used from 1935-1953.
