Rutherford a temporance reformer. On the left-hand side of the Bigg Market there are buildings containing offices and shops such as the Roma Cafe and on the right-hand side buildings include the Half Moon Inn and Bainbridge and Co. Ltd. The premises of H. Samuel jewellers can be seen in the background on the corner of Grainger Street and Newgate Street. Cars are parked on either side of the Bigg Market.
