    Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A view of Dean Street Newcastle upon Tyne taken in 1894. The view shows repairs being carried out to the railway arch which spans Dean Street. There is wooden scaffolding on the underside of the arch. In the background can be seen the premises of Jos. C. Nicholson Engineers who had premises at no. 59 the Side. Collection : Local Studies Source of Information : Jos.C. Nicholson 59 The Side first appears in Ward's Directory for 1894 but is gone by the 1896 edition. No. 55-57 The Side (just visible) occupied by the Quayside Tonsorial Saloon.
