The Essoldo was built on a triangular site tapering towards the junction of the High Street and Sunderland Road. The main entrance was at the junction of the two roads.Theatres Collection : Local Studies Source of Information : The Essoldo opened as the King's Theatre on 9 October 1905. It was renamed the Empire in 1918 and was taken over by the Essoldo circuit in 1946.
