"The first Chinese restaurant in Newcastle was the Marlborough Café on Scotswood Road which opened its doors in 1949 when the estimated Chinese population was about 30." (Steve Ellwood: https://twitter.com/tynesnapper/status/1252252679482609664?lang=en ). But was it more of a restaurant run by people of Chinese descent, rather than a restaurant serving Chinese food?
