    Type : Photograph Medium : Print-black-and-white Description : A photograph of the Bigg Market on market day taken in the 1960s. The photograph has been taken from High Bridge looking up the Bigg Market which is lined with clothes stalls. The pavement is bustling with people. Part of the memorial fountain to Dr J. H. Rutherford (temporance reformer) can be seen between the clothes stall. Buildings can be seen to the left of the market stalls including 'Bonsers' photographic shop. The Swallow Hotel Newgate Street can be seen in the distance. Collection : Local Studies Source of Information : The date of the photograph is given as c.1950 on the grey card but it is 1960s (based on the clothes of the people in the photograph).
