Byker Viaduct

    This photograph shows a completed view of the Byker Viaduct in the summer of 1979. The image is taken from a series documenting construction, improvement and reinstatement works to the Ouseburn Valley and Byker Station track work, concourse maintenance room and platforms. The images are taken from the Mott, Hay and Anderson collection, consulting civil engineers responsible from the Tyneside Metro light rail system and the Tyne Pedestrian, cyclist and vehicular tunnels. Reference no. DT.MHA/8/6/4914/38/16 The photographers were Turners (Photography) Ltd of 7-15 Pink Lane, Newcastle. This image inspired ‘Interchange’, an experimental film and album of music by Warm Digits.
