This photograph is a view of the south bound tunnel to Haymarket. This image is taken from a series documenting the excavation and construction of the north and southbound running tunnels between Jesmond, Haymarket, Monument and Central stations. 28th October 1975. The images are taken from the Mott, Hay and Anderson collection, consulting civil engineers responsible from the Tyneside Metro light rail system and the Tyne Pedestrian, cyclist and vehicular tunnels. Reference no. DT.MHA/17/2/K650/4 This image inspired ‘Interchange’, an experimental film and album of music by Warm Digits.
