Description
This photograph shows the south bound running tunnel to Gateshead station. 31st October 1976. The photograph is taken from a collection of photographs documenting every stage in the excavation and construction of the north and southbound running tunnels in Gateshead. The images are taken from the Mott, Hay and Anderson Collection, consulting civil engineers responsible for the Tyneside Metro light rail system and the Tyne pedestrian, cyclist and vehicular tunnels. The photographs were taken by Paul Hindmarsh of Astley, High Westwood, Newcastle. Reference no.
