2020_03_06 034 Epiacum Roman Fort

  • Description

Epiacum sits above the road between Slaggyford and Alston and is one of the best preserved forts in Europe. A large car park and excellent cafe have been built in the last year, and fort and cafe are well worth a visit. There's wonderful walking down in the S Tyne valley or on the hills above, and the Pennine Way runs right past.
