  • Description

"This is the view from the top of High Cup in the North Pennines where this is known as High Cup Nick. It is one of the most spectacular sights on the Pennine Way. High Cup Gill flows through the bottom of the valley and The Eden Valley is in the distance. To quote 'Visit Cumbria': "A deep chasm on the Pennine fellside, this famous nick, a dramatic geological formation at the top of High Cup Gill is part of the well-known Whin Sill, and overlooks the best glaciated valley in Northern England. Here you can see the grey-blue dolerite crags which also form High Force and Cauldron Snout."" Photo by Marathon, 2018.
