Hob Uid: 10137 Location : Cumbria Allerdale Bowness Grid Ref : NY2431061750 Summary : The approximate site of Roman turret 78A, part of the defences supporting Hadrian's wall along the Cumbrian coast. There are no surface remains. The site was excavated in 1948. More information : (NY 2431 6175) Turret (GS) (site of) (1) Turret 78A was identified on the ground in 1948. It lies 100ft north-west of the west corner of Kirkland farm-buildings, in the line of hedge bordering the south side of the road to Port Carlisle. (2) No visible remains.
