Altar Stone at Aesica Roman Fort
-
Description
"Aesica Roman Fort http://www.roman-britain.org/places/aesica.htm is one of the forts on the line of Hadrian's Wall http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hadrian's_Wall which is followed closely by a popular National Trail http://www.nationaltrail.co.uk/hadrianswall/. The altar stone appears to be a spot where passing visitors have decided to leave small monetary donations (or is it a good luck offering?)" Photo by Oliver Dixon, 2007. -
